Secondary Questions / Book of Mormon
Can the Book of Mormon witnesses be trusted?
What the question is
Eleven men signed formal statements affirming the existence of the gold plates. None ever recanted, even after some had left the Church. Their testimonies were public, written, and never withdrawn.
Where to read what the Church has published
How this often lands
Their consistency under pressure is meaningful, but it isn’t the foundation. The witnesses point us toward the book; the Spirit is what, in time, witnesses of the book to us.
