What the question is
The surviving Joseph Smith Papyri fragments, when translated by Egyptologists, don’t match the Book of Abraham text. There are several thoughtful theories about how Joseph’s translation process actually worked, including the catalyst theory and the missing-scroll theory.

‘Translation,’ in Joseph’s prophetic work, wasn’t always a one-to-one rendering of source text. Read the Book of Abraham itself, ask God whether it is scripture, and let the witness sit alongside the unresolved historical pieces.
