Secondary Questions / Doctrine

‘As man is, God once was; as God is, man may become.’

What the question is

Latter-day Saints believe in the divine potential of God’s children — that we may, through Christ, become like our Heavenly Father. Various early Church statements expressed this in different language, some of which is not part of formal doctrine today.

How this often lands

The core teaching — divine potential through Christ — is scripturally grounded. Speculative formulations from earlier eras are not binding doctrine, and you’re free to hold them lightly.
